[Vol.6] Cheer Up Japan! The Voices from Overseas Exhibitors.

Now, August has just begun! It is supposed that most of you are enjoying summer vacation. As for staffs of IOFT Show Management, in fact, we’re getting excited, since we come to the busiest part of preparation for the show. We can’t have a summer vacation!

Well, in fact, we’ve been receiving a number of voices from overseas about the Great East Japan Earthquake occurred on March. They were voices of encouragement and concern. Information reported in news, newspapers or magazines was supposed to be terrible and disturbing for people outside Japan and we actually received some inquiries from overseas about safety in Japan.

In such a situation, some eyewear designers have visited Japan after the Earthquake. We asked them to give us messages which encourage overseas people who are still thinking to come to Japan and also people living in Japan to visit IOFT held in Tokyo. As a result, they readily agreed and gave us video messages and letters.
Then let us introduce some of them!

First, we’ll introduce a letter from Mr.Moritz Krueger and the MYKITA team from MYKITA.

                                   -a letter from MYKITA -

The MYKITA team will be exhibit at IOFT with more awesome collections. We can’t wait to see them at the site. By the way, the Project “MYKITA for Japan” mentioned at the end of the letter has already started! The proceeds from the sales of sunglass “FRANTZ” of MYKITA will be donated to the earthquake appeal.

As of August 8, only 38 glasses are left! For more information, please check the below website.

Secondly, we introduce a video message from Mr.Victor Gros from TRACTION. We got this message from him directly during his staying in Japan.

Although a staff of the Show Management has interviewed Mr.Gros without notice at the trunk show in LUNNETTES DU JURA in Tokyo, he pleasantly cooperated in the interview. Thank you so much, Mr.Gros! Of course, TRACTION will exhibit at IOFT. Please check the website until now and gather information.

Then, also Ms.Marion Frost from FROST sent us a message!

Speaking of Ms.Frost, she has a great smile like the sun and just her smile makes us cheerful and happy. We’ve heard that Mr. & Ms. Frost love Japan so much.
We felt their enthusiasm to encourage people in Japan and were really touched by their message, “Come to Japan”, wearing glasses with the national flag of Japan. We appreciate their cooperation and perfect preparation for making the video!

Finally, here is a video message from Mr.Ralph Anderl of ic!berlin. We heard that he’s visited Japan twice after the earthquake. His “Rap” like a message is so cool! It’s very characteristic of him!

His message getting into rhythm seems to show his cheerfulness. When he visited Japan right after the earthquake, he went the rounds of his customers in Tokyo one by one by bicycle. His prompt and energetic activity really impressed on us. By the way, scenes of his visiting those shops are uploaded on Facebook of ic!berlin Japan. Check the following page!

[Editor’s Note]
Messages from the exhibitors warm our hearts and make us believe that everything’s gonna be alright and we should step forward now.
If you also think “I want to send a message to encourage people!”, please send it to Any kind of messages like letters, Art with glasses and video messages will be welcome!
We will introduce them through IOFT NEWS, Facebook, Twitter and somewhere in the site during the show.
We look forward to your message!

At the end, we would like to tell people living overseas, “Tokyo is safe!"

If you’re interested in exhibiting at or visiting IOFT, please contact Show Management as soon as possible!
